南西諸島に分布する。前種よりも大きい。
珍品。ススキにつくというが採集したことが無い。愛媛大学ミュージアムにも1個体しか標本が無い。
大きいしカッコいい。採ってみたい。
体長が4.5ｍｍ以上で腹部は側方が赤褐色であることで区別できる。フキがホスト。西日本では少ないようだ。
体長が4.5ｍｍ以下で腹部が全体黒色ということで次種と区別される。
西日本に分布するようだが記録は少なく局所的。ムラサキシキブにつくらしいが、私は採集したことが無い。ヒメキベリやキベリなどに一見似るが棘が長いので区別できる。
