アオバアリガタハネカクシのペデリン含有量は雌雄により異なっており、ペデリン生産バクテリアの感染割合が雌で大きく（9割程度）雄で小さい（3割程度）ことが原因だろうとのこと。ただ、地域差もある。面白い研究。
